Position: Special Projects Manager

Location: Accra, Ghana

Start Date: Decemember 2017

Established in 2011, The Global Shea Alliance (GSA) is a nonprofit industry association based in Accra, Ghana.  We currently have 430 members from 31 countries including food and cosmetic brands, suppliers, women’s groups, and non-profit organizations.

Through public-private partnerships, the GSA promotes industry sustainability, quality practices and standards, and demand for shea in food and cosmetics.  We implement the following activities:

The GSA is hiring a full time Special Projects Manager to support francophone engagements related to communications and events, development, and sustainability program activities.

Duties and Responsibilities 

The Special Projects Manager will implement the following activities:

  • Develop success stories, website content, and other communications materials
  • Build relationships with regional press and pitch content
  • Recruit speakers and participants for GSA events and exhibitions
  • Assist with organization of annual country level work shops in Mali, Benin, Burkina Faso, and Ivory Coast
  • Assist with translation and dissemination of GSA documents
  • Assist with organization of GSA annual conference
  • Assist with member engagement and registration
  • Assist with communications with national associations and other stakeholder groups in the region.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of two years professional experience in international development, sustainable supply chains, and/or non-profit or corporate communications
  • Experience writing for newspapers, magazines, and/or consumer friendly publications
  • Concise and convincing written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to design marketing documents and strong competency with related computer programs
  • Ability to learn and quickly assimilate diverse technical information
  • Passion and commitment for women’s empowerment in Africa
  • Positive, “can-do” attitude and no fear of failure
  • Written and spoken English and French
